The 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee Forum on Marine Climate Change and High-Quality Development was held in Fuzhou, China from the 16-19th October 2025. Trinidad & Tobago was in attendance and representation included members of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Local Government Authorities.

More than that, on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago, the delegation was asked to make a presentation at the Forum which fell to Vice Chairman of TTALGA and Mayor of the Borough of Siparia, His Worship Councillor Doodnath Mayhroo. Supporting this venture was TTALGA Executive Committee Member, Councillor Teresa Lynch; and Councillor Marcia Marslin.

The program was geared toward sharing innovative practices to accelerate the construction of marine ecological civilization, elevating the level of marine scientific innovation, and promoting high-quality development of the marine economy.

This year's forum has the potential to open up opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago as a small island developing state to expand and increase in its efforts toward sustainable development in the marine economy and creating a network of partners from across the globe, particularly at the municipal level.




Mayor Mayhroo's compelling presentation on the urgent challenges of climate change and the opportunities for marine economic growth, shared the insights and experiences from Trinidad and Tobago’s perspective. Some highlights can be viewed in the shared video below:
