On July 23rd, 2025, TTALGA’s Welfare Committee held their first meeting, with the focus on the committee’s Terms of reference (TOR) and agenda. Hosted by the San Juan Regional Corporation, the meeting was called to order at 1:52 pm at the Jeffery Reyes building, San Juan.
The terms of reference for this committee states that welfare services are to support individuals, within the Local Government Fraternity to respond, and assist from emergencies. Such services are to be managed , delivered, coordinated and supported at the Executive level with the to carry out activities across the 14 municipalities; and to provide for the needs of members affected by Health emergencies, grief, legal and social support.

Representatives from the TTALGA Policy Team were on hand to express TTALGA’s role in facilitating the Committee’s objectives and emphasized the high importance that needed to be placed on having the bio data forms completed and analyzed as this directly impacts on providing the needed assistance of all municipalities.

The Committee Chairman, Councillor Jeneice Scott addressed the topics of this agenda which included adopting the terms of reference for the Committee and the need to complete the Bio Data form which was sent out to all municipalities; and the need to address the mental health of local government practitioners.

Several other topics related to the agenda were also raised and discussed among the members. Those attending included: Councillor Seema Ramseran-Augustine; Committee Vice Chairman, Alderman Suzan Holder; Alderman Paul Mongolas; and Councillor, Chelsea Mendez. We look forward to more successful sessions like these by other TTALGA committees in the near future.
